Suva, 7 August 2026

Responding to a request from the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) to assist with the forthcoming  General Elections in Fiji, the Government of India today gifted four vehicles to the Fijian Elections  Office.

  1. On behalf of the Government of India, the High Commissioner of India to Fiji, His Excellency  Mr. Suneet Mehta, formally handed over the four vehicles to the Chairperson of the Electoral  Commission of Fiji, Justice Usaia Ratuvili, at a ceremony held at the Fijian Elections Office Warehouse  in Suva. The ceremony was attended by Ms. Selina Kuruleca, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of  Justice, Commissioner of Election, Supervisor of Election, senior officials of the Fijian Elections Office,  senior Government officials, and officers of the High Commission of India.
  2. Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner H.E. Referring to India as the world's largest and  most vibrant democracy, he expressed India's pleasure in supporting the Fijian Elections Office in the  conduct of the forthcoming General Elections. He reaffirmed that, as a steadfast friend and development  partner of Fiji, India remains ready to extend further assistance to the Fijian election authorities in areas  of electoral management and capacity building.
  3. India has consistently supported the Fijian Elections Office during previous General Elections.
