ICCR: Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scholarship Scheme (Formerly General Scholarship Scheme):

The Government of India, under Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship programme is offering various scholarships to students in Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga and Tuvalu to study in India. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scholarship Scheme is offering 20 scholarship slots to Fiji Nationals and 2 slots to Kiribati Nationals, 2 slots to Tongan Nationals and 3 slots to Tuvalu Nationals. The courses include Accounts, Agricultural Science, Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Humanities, Information technology, Mass Communication, Social science and Science subjects. Indian Council for Cultural Relations is also offering 100 Scholarships Globally under the “Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music Scholarship Scheme (Formerly ICCR Scholarship Scheme for Indian Culture)” for pursuing studies of Indian Classical Music, Indian Classical Dance, Indian Languages, Painting, theatre and sculpture etc. (Scholarships do not include medical, dental or related courses). ICCR scholarships cover return international fares, tuition fees, living allowances and hostel accommodation charges.

Scholarships for Study of Hindi

Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India, announces award of scholarships to citizens of Fiji Islands between the age group of 21-35 years for study of Hindi at Central Institute of Hindi (CIH)/Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra, India, under the Scheme of Propagation of Hindi Abroad (PHA Scheme) every year. The scholarships are for Certificate in Hindi Language Proficiency; Diploma in Hindi Language Proficiency; Advanced Diploma in Hindi Language Proficiency; and Post-Graduate Diploma in Hindi. The academic year at CIH runs from August 1 to March 31.

Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children

The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA), Government of India, has launched a scheme called the ‘Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children’ (SPDC) to assist children/wards of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) from the specified 40 countries having a larger concentration of Indian Diaspora in pursuing undergraduate courses in India in several disciplines, including Engineering, Architecture, Technology, Humanities, Liberal Arts, Commerce, Management – BBA/BBSM, Journalism, Hotel Management, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Science and Law, etc.
