Visit of Professor (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University to Fiji

Professor (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel visited Fiji from India in February 2026. Professor Patel is a distinguished Member of the UN International Law Commission, Member of the National Security Advisory Board, and Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University. He is also India’s candidate for election as Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) for the term 2026–2035.

Insightful lectures and engagement on the BBNJ Entry-Into-Force and Sea-Level Rise, Climate Change and International Law by Prof Patel were held at the University of the South Pacific, Suva on 26-27 February 2026. Policy, diplomatic and academic community of the Blue Pacific countries actively participated in the discussions. MAHASAGAR doctrine of Prime Minister Modi (Mutual And Holistic Advancement of Security And Growth of All Regions) finds resonation as the world looks towards shaping and maintaining rule of international law based oceanic order.

Prof. Patel also inaugurated the One District One Product (ODOP) corner at the High Commission. On 02 March, he paid a courtesy call on Minister for Justice Hon. Siromi Turaga in Suva.
