On 27 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta presented Hindi and Vedic books to the University of Fiji in Lautoka.


On 27 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta was honoured to meet with delegation from Kiribati led by Minister for Tourism, Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives Hon. Tangariki Reete in Suva. 


On 22 May 2026, High Commissioner attended a Vibrant celebration of the first ever Veilomani Dosti Fashion Show in Suva — a memorable cultural evening organized by HCI Suva and SVCC Suva in collaboration with the Suva Multi Cultural Centre. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua, Deputy Speaker of Parliament & Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, as the Chief Guest.


On 23 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta inaugurated the 4th Edition of the India–Fiji T20 Cricket Tournament at Albert Park, Suva.


On 21 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta was delighted to meet with International Seabed Authority Secretary-General Ms. Leticia Carvalho in Suva


On 18 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta received a courtesy call from a 3-member NTPC Limited delegation visiting Fiji to advance water desalination initiatives, advancing PM Narendra Modi’s announcement at the 3rd FIPIC Summit.


On 18 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta was honored to attend the traditional ceremony of welcome to the Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), Her Excellency Ms Leticia Carvalho, hosted by Fiji Government at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.


On 14 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta and Fiji Museum Co-Leader Ratu Jone Balenaivalu jointly concluded the vibrant Madhubani Painting Workshop at the Fiji Museum. 


On 15 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta was honored to join the 147th Girmit Day Commemoration hosted by the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts and the Ministry of Public Enterprises at Fiji Museum. The event was graced by Minister Hon. Charan Jeath Singh and witnessed the participation of UN Resident Coordinator H.E. Dirk Wagener and Permanent Secretary Dr. Vinesh Kumar. A special video message from Fiji PM Sitiveni Rabuka recalled the immense contributions of the Girmitiyas in laying the foundations of a modern, multicultural Fiji. 


On 14 May 2026, a visit to Dilkusha Home highlighted the compassion and humanitarian spirit rooted in the Girmit era. Established in 1904, the Home has long served vulnerable children and families, carrying forward a legacy of care born during a difficult period in Fiji’s history.


On 14 May 2026, the refurbished Syria Monument at Syria Park was unveiled in remembrance of the 56 indentured labourers and three lascars who tragically lost their lives in the 1884 Syria shipwreck at Nasilai Reef — one of the most solemn chapters in Fiji’s Girmit history.


On 14 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta was honoured to join the 2026 Girmit Day Commemoration organized by the Fijian Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage & Arts alongside Minister Hon. Charan Jeath Singh and Permanent Secretary Dr. Vinesh Kumar. At the historic Naag Baba Kuti Mandir in Nausori, homage was paid to one of the sacred spiritual sites established by Girmitiyas over 140 years ago, where indentured labourers gathered for prayer, hope and unity during times of hardship. The handover of 10 solar street lights also recognized the temple’s lasting historical importance.


On 13 May 2025, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta attended the last day of the 3-Day Kathak Dance Workshop by Pt. Avijeet Chakravarty held at the Fiji Museum.


On 08 May 2026, High Commissioner Suneet Mehta today officially handed over Cowpea seeds from India to 100 farmers in Nadi, in the presence of Fiji Government Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Waterways Hon. Inosi Kuridrani and Chairman of New Valley Processors (Fiji) Pte Limited Mr. Vinesh Rai.
