Week-long Indian Film Festival 20 – 26 March, 2022

The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the High Commission of India in Suva launched a week-long Indian Film Festival at the Life Cinema in Nakasi on 20 March, 2022 as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, aninitiative of the Government of India to celebrate the 75 years of independent India.

A large number of guests comprising Members of Parliament, Members of the Diplomatic Corp, senior officials, business leaders, students, Indian Diaspora and members of the wider community watched the inaugural movie - an Indian period romantic drama film, ‘RadheShyam’.

The High Commissioner, H.E. P.S. Karthigeyan opened the event and underlined the significance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Fiji, a country with which India has a special and enduring bond.

India makes the largest number of movies in the world and Indian movies are popular around the world. The film festival with 4 latest blockbuster movies will end on Saturday, 26 March, 2022.
Other movies during the festival include the following:

  • 22 March, 2022 – The Kashmir Files
  • 24 March, 2022 – Jhund
  • 26 March, 2022 – RRR
